
# 29 - Goose Creek Reservoir NORTH

Calling all birders! If you like viewing or photographing
herons, egrets, ospreys, ibis and even bald eagles,
then this is a the Blueway for you! This reservoir, which
sits in the middle of the cities of Hanahan and Goose
Creek, is home to many rookeries and migratory birds.
It's also so much more than a large "lake." You'll find
-beautiful coves with picturesque cypress and tupelos,
-tributary waterways and there's a smaller lake you can-
-explore on the north side of the reservoir! This is an-
-easy-going paddle appropriate for all skill levels!-

Difficulty: Easy.
Distance: 2 - 5 miles, varies. Best suited as exploration. Paddle as little or as much as you'd like.
Time: Plan on at least 2 hours to fully enjoy the north part of the reservoir.
Crowds: Moderate at times. You're likely to see motorized boats in the reservoir, especially on the weekends.
Put In / Take Out: There is not an exact street address, however, mapping programs recognize "Venice Avenue Park," Venice Avenue, Hanahan, SC 29410. GPS: 32.960194, -80.032333 or 32°57'36.7"N 80°01'56.4"W.

Current: Negligible, generally south direction towards the dam.

Precautions: Winds above 10 MPH can be tough for a paddler on Goose Creek Reservoir. There is a lot of open water for wind to intensify and cause waves/whitecaps.
Water Level: For this Blueway paddle trail, water level is not a concern.
